Wipe wood into shape

A simple oil finish makes for a happy woodworker

By Steve Maxwell; Illustration by Paul perreault

Step #1: Apply a generous coat of oil. A brush works best for corners and profiles

Step #2: Sand the surface while it's wet with oil. Use 240-, 400- or 600-grit wet/drysandpaper

Step #3: Rub on a light coat of wax, let dry, then buff. Don't clog corners and profiles with wax

1. Easy wood finishing
2. Avoiding trouble
3. Detailed image
